Vol. 335 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

122.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will allocate a £1,000 grant for a new house to a person (details supplied) in County Meath.

The question of amending the Housing Regulations, 1980, to enable applicants such as the person named to be eligible for the £1,000 grant is under active consideration. Until the matter is resolved, the application in this case cannot be processed further.

131.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant under the old scheme will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Under the Housing Regulations, 1980, as amended, the latest date for the completion of works and the receipt in the Department of claims for payment was 30 June 1981. As this statutory requirement was not complied with in this case, a grant cannot be paid.

132.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant of £4,000 will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; and if he is aware that the person has been in the house for nearly a year.

A grant of £1,000 was paid in this case recently. The subsidy will be paid, if in order, when the applicant submits the relevant claim form.

133.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a person (details supplied) in County Waterford has not received payment of a house improvement grant; and if he will make a statement on the matter, indicating when this grant will be paid to him.

A grant cannot be allowed in this case because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the scheme, the works had commenced before an inspection of the house was carried out.
