A problem in relation to non-nursing duties in St. Canice's Hospital, Kilkenny, has been the subject of discussions between officers of the health board and officers of my Department and ways and means of resolving the difficulty by redeploying existing staff resources are being examined locally. There are proposals for the opening and staffing of new units at St. Canice's Hospital. I am not in a position to give a decision on these proposals at this particular time but the matter is being kept under review.
