Vol. 335 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Road Accidents.

20.

asked the Minister for the Environment the number of accidents which have occurred between Milltown Bridge and Sandyford Cross, County Dublin, in the period January-December 1981; and the number of people (a) killed and (b) injured.

(Dublin South-East): I am informed that provisional figures compiled by An Foras Forbartha, as derived from road accident information recorded by the Garda Síochána, indicate that during 1981 there were seven accidents involving injury to eight persons on the Dublin-Enniskerry road between Milltown Bridge and Sandyford Cross. There were no fatal accidents.

I hesitate to ask the Minister where he got his information. It is simply inaccurate.

You cannot make a speech. You can ask a question.

I suggest to the Minister that the information he has just given me is simply not true. Only recently——

I am sorry, you cannot make a speech. You have made your point that it is not true.

In the past number of weeks there has been a fatal accident there. Is the Minister aware that there are quite serious accidents almost weekly on the stretch of road from Milltown Bridge to Enniskerry and that the answer is simply not true? Could I suggest that the Minister go back to his officials and bring back tomorrow the accurate information that this House should have?
