asked the Minister for Agriculture if, in reference to parliamentary question No. 752 of 3 June 1982, he will state (a) the name of the stallion disposed of because of a pathological condition; (b) from whom Bord na gCapall bought it and the price paid; (c) the exact nature of the pathological condition that led to the animal being put down; (d) whether the animal had a veterinary check before being bought by the board and, if so, the result of that check; and (e) if the veterinary examination determined when the pathological condition might have begun.

Commercial transactions of the kind mentioned by the Deputy are part of the ordinary day-to-day business of the board and under the relevant legislation I have no function in regard to them. I understand, however, that the animal in question did undergo a veterinary examination prior to its purchase by the board and that the result of that examination was satisfactory.
