It has not been possible to trace an application by the person named. If the Deputy can furnish additional information about the application, e.g. when and where it was made, further efforts will be made to trace it.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason a telephone service has not been restored to a person (details supplied) in Rathfarnham, Dublin 14, even though it has been out of order since 6 February last and has been reported to his Department on numerous occasions.

A fault on the line was cleared in April last and there is no record of a subsequent fault report. Service will be restored within the next few days.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in installing a new telephone for a person (details supplied) in County Meath.

It has not been possible to provide service for this applicant so far because of the large volume of engineering work on hands and awaiting attention in the Meath area. It is expected that service will be provided within about a month.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in installing a telephone for a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan as he applied for service over four years ago and now employs four people.

It is necessary to carry out additional cabling before telephone service can be provided for the person named who applied in September 1979. Telephone service will be provided as soon as it is possible to do so but it is unlikely that the necessary cabling can be carried out for about a year. My Department have no evidence that four people are employed.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the stores branch of his Department will provide the cable needed to install the public telephone on Aughinish Island near Kinvara, County Galway.

Tenders have been invited for the necessary submarine cable but until tenders have been received and considered, it is not possible to say when delivery can be made.

Service will be restored within the next few days.

It is necessary to carry out cabling work before service can be provided for the person named. Because of the volume of engineering work on hands and requiring attention in the 01 area it is unlikely that the necessary cabling work can be completed for about a year. If the Deputy will furnish details of the other applications referred to, including names and addresses, further inquiry will be made in this regard.

Telephone service will be provided as soon as it is possible to do so. Regrettably, it is unlikely that the necessary cabling can be carried out for about a year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if, in view of the length of time a person (details supplied) has been waiting for a telephone service, he will now give this application priority; and when a telephone will be supplied.

Telephone service will be provided for the person named, who applied in June 1979, as soon as it is possible to do so. Regrettably, it is unlikely that the necessary cabling can be completed before the end of the year.

Within about a year. It has not been possible in the time available to trace any record of an advance payment. If the Deputy can furnish additional information in this regard, e.g. where and when the payment was made, further inquiry will be undertaken.

Service will be provided as soon as it is possible to do so but it is unlikely that necessary cabling work can be completed before the end of the year.

It has not been possible to provide a telephone service for the person named, who applied in June 1979, so far, because of the volume of engineering work on hands and requiring attention in the 01 area. A survey is being carried out to ascertain when it will be possible to provide service and the applicant will be advised as soon as the result of the survey is to hand.

There is no record that a connection fee was paid. If the Deputy can furnish additional information in this regard, e.g. when and where the payment was made, further inquiry will be undertaken.

935.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be restored for a business (details supplied) as there has been no service for over a month now; the reason for the delay in having this line repaired; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The fault, which is in the underground cable, will be repaired within the next few days. Because of the number of such faults, which require attention by specially trained staff, I regret that there has been delay in repairing them.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be restored for a person (details supplied) in Lucan, County Dublin, as there has been no service for the past month; the reason for the delay in restoring service; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There is no record of a report of a fault on the line in recent weeks. Service will be restored within the next few days.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in connecting a telephone line which was installed some time ago for a person (details supplied) in Castleknock, County Dublin.

Service has been provided. Service could not be provided earlier because of the volume of engineering work on hands and requiring attention in the 01 area.

938.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will arrange that all telephone kiosks in the Westport urban area, County Mayo, will be changed to facilitate tenpenny coins, in view of the fact that a continental call from the Westport urban area at present costs £2.35 minimum which means inserting a total of 47 fivepenny coins before a connection can be made.

The need for this alteration is accepted and the work has been in train; its completion will be expedited to the maximum extent practicable.
