Tentative proposals for industrial development at Rathmullan have been mooted over the years. Neither Bord Iascaigh Mhara, the Industrial Development Authority, the Planning Department of Donegal County Council nor my Department have any firm proposals before them at present for such development in the fishery interest.
Even if industrial development did take place at Rathmullan it does not necessarily follow that State expenditure on the development of the pier there would be justified.
