Vol. 336 No. 5

Written Answers. - Blind Pension Application.

427.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when a blind pension will be awarded to a person (details supplied) in Knocknaheeny, Cork, who applied on 14 April 1982 and who was subsequently visited by a member of his Department.

Evidence of blindness has not yet been submitted by the claimant in this case and it is understood that there is a long waiting list for examination by the local health authority ophthalmic surgeon. In the circumstances, arrangements are being made to have the claimant examined by an opthalmic inspector of the Department at an early date. In the meantime the claimant is receiving supplementary welfare allowance.
