Vol. 337 No. 9

Written Answers. - Aircraft Engineers' Licences.

508.

asked the Minister for Transport if the procedure for re-issuing licences to aircraft engineers has changed and, if so, in what manner; if he is aware that aircraft engineers have now to surrender their licences for a period of up to a number of weeks prior to the renewal of their licences and that this is causing serious inconvenience and stress among them; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The procedure for the renewal of aircraft maintenance engineers' licences has not changed.

An aircraft maintenance engineer is required to submit annually to my Department a completed application form for renewal of his licence, together with the licence and the appropriate fee. The period for processing the renewal application is normally about three days and the renewed licence, duly stamped, is then returned to the applicant.

I am not aware that the existing procedure has been the cause of inconvenience or stress to any licence holder.
