My Department have been in communication with representatives of the owners of the Ranga with a view to their having this vessel removed. At the same time, as I indicated on 23 June last, I am examining the general question of whether the enactment of additional legislation relating to the removal and disposal of such wrecks might not be necessary.
The matter of pollution is one for the Kerry County Council. I understand that this body are at present considering the most effective means of obviating any risks which may exist of sea and beach pollution by this vessel.
