It is expected that service will be provided within about six months.

The best forecast that can be given at this stage is that it should be possible to have the link in service during the 3rd quarter of this year if a suitable site for the necessary mast at the Clifden end can be acquired quickly. Much difficulty has been encountered in obtaining such a site.

The subscriber named is connected to Kiltulla exchange. His line is extended to Athenry exchange for night and Sunday service.

It is expected that automatic service will be introduced at Kiltulla about the end of this year. Connection of the subscriber to Athenry exchange in the interim would not be practicable because of the amount of engineering work required.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the action he proposes to take to improve the telephone service for subscribers in the Kilcolgan and Clarinbridge areas of County Galway.

Telephone subscribers in the Kilcolgan-Clarinbridge areas are served mainly from Kilcolgan exchange but a small number of Clarinbridge subscribers are served by Oranmore exchange.

The main problem in the area is congestion during peak traffic periods. The standard of service will improve when Mervue trunk exchange Galway is brought into service in about three months time and a further substantial improvement is expected when replacement exchanges are provided at Kilcolgan and Oranmore later this year.

Delay in restoring service was due to difficulty in gaining access to the subscriber's residence. The subscriber states that service is now satisfactory.

A fault on the subscriber's line was reported on 16 December. The fault on this line has necessitated a special investigation. Service will be restored within a week or so.

Service has been restored. The fault was in the underground cable and the delay in having it repaired was due to the large number of faults on hands.

Service was provided recently. It is expected that additional lines will be provided within about two months.

The kiosk at Alpine Heights Estate has been out of order because of an underground cable fault. It is hoped to have service restored in the near future.
