Vol. 340 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Waterford Snow Clearance.

35.

asked the Minister for the environment if all moneys due to Waterford County Council for snow clearance over the last three to four years have been paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A provision of £2 million was made last year for the purposes of making recoupments to local authorities in respect of abnormal expenditure incurred by them arising from blizzard conditions in January 1982.

£39,177 was paid to Waterford County Council in respect of this expenditure. This amount, together with the payments made to other road authorities in 1982, absorbed the total provision of £2 million which was made available.
