Vol. 340 No. 7

Written Answers. - Inland Transport Committee Representation.

361.

asked the Minister for Transport the reason there was no democratically elected representative or no direct representation of any local authority on the inter-departmental committee studying inland transport; and if he will disband the committee until such time as it does have such representation.

I am satisfied that the most appropriate way to deal with the study of inland transport functions at present in progress is through a small inter-departmental group which will obtain the views of interested parties. The bodies which have been invited to make submissions to the group include the County Councils' General Council, the Association of Municipal Authorities, the County and City Managers' Association and the County and City Engineers' Association.
