asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason a telephone service has not been provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 5.

It has not been possible to provide telephone service for the person named so far because of the large volume of engineering work on hands and requiring attention in the 01 area.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be restored for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 9.

Service will be restored within a week or so.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the cause of the long delay in providing a telephone kiosk for Fossa village near Killarney, County Kerry; and when it will be erected.

The delay in erecting the kiosk at Fossa has been due to a shortage of kiosk structures. It is expected that the kiosk will be erected during 1983.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin in view of the fact that she has been on the waiting list for two-and-a-half years.

Service will be provided as soon as possible but it is unlikely that the necessary engineering work can be completed before the latter part of this year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason an incorrect reply was recently given to a written parliamentary question by Deputy O'Rourke regarding an application for a telephone service in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath, as he still requires service urgently and has a particular social reason in that regard.

It is regretted that the reply given to the Deputy on 8 February 1983 was incorrect. The application was confused with another application bearing the same surname and address. It is expected that service will be provided for the person named within about three months.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when additional telephone exchange equipment will be installed in Glasson Exchange, Athlone, County Westmeath; and the number of potential new subscribers this service will supply.

It is expected that a new digital exchange with capacity for an additional 240 subscribers lines will be brought into service at Glasson in May-June next.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Clare as he paid the deposit on 6 June 1982.

When the person named was invited to sign an agreement and make advance payment it was expected that telephone service would be provided for him within about three months. Regrettably this was not possible because of an unforeseen difficulty. It is expected that service will be provided within about two months.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone kiosk will be provided for Palmer Park, Dublin 14.

It is planned to provide a telephone kiosk at Pearse Brothers Park to serve the general area including Palmers Park. The kiosk will be provided as soon as possible after the necessary cabling work in the area is completed.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone account problem will be rectified and suitable service restored for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12.

My Department are engaged in ongoing correspondence with this subscriber regarding his account. The matter is expected to be resolved shortly. A fault on the line is having attention, and will be repaired within a few days.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that all telephones in the Ashgrove area of Tallaght, Dublin are out of order; and when service will be restored.

All telephones in this area were put out of order on 20 February by a cable break caused by private contractors' excavating machinery. The cable was repaired on 25 February and full service was restored.

The person named applied for telephone service on 5 January 1981.

It has not been possible to provide the service so far because of the volume of engineering work on hands and requiring attention in the 01 area. It is expected that service will be provided within about a year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin; the date on which she applied for service; and the reason for the delay in providing it.

It has not been possible to trace an application for telephone service on behalf of the person named. If the Deputy can furnish additional information e.g. the full postal address and when and where the application was made further efforts will be made to trace it.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be repaired for a person (details supplied) in County Carlow as it has been out of order since the end of November 1983, despite daily complaints to the authorities involved.

The subscriber's line was not out of order. Service was however withdrawn for non-payment of the October/December 1982 account. This account has since been paid and service restored.
