asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will give the following information in respect of each personal assistant, adviser, consultant, secretary, typist or any other category employed from outside the civil service in a temporary, part-time or permanent capacity or contractual capacity, for the period 18 December 1982 to date: name, rank, remuneration, terms of conditions of employment, if seconded, and, if so, from where.

Apart from the appointments detailed in my written reply to Parliamentary Question No. 950 on 26 January 1983 (Vol. 339, No. 4) no other appointments have been made by me or the Minister of State at my Department.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will give the following information in respect of each personal assistant, adviser, consultant, secretary, typist or any other category employed from outside the civil service in a temporary, part-time or permanent capacity or contractual capacity, for the period 18 December 1982 to date: name, rank, remuneration, terms of conditions of employment, if seconded, and, if so, from where.

, Limerick East): The only such appointment made was that of Ms. Breda Clifford, a secretarial assistant in the Houses of the Oireachtas, whom I appointed as my personal secretary. Her remuneration is her existing secretarial assistant salary of £125 per week plus a non-pensionable allowance of £11 per week. Her appointment is temporary and whole-time and will terminate not later than the date on which the present Government cease to hold office.

asked the Minister for Education if he will give the following information in respect of each personal assistant, adviser, consultant, secretary, typist or any other category employed from outside the civil service in a temporary, part-time or permanent capacity or contractual capacity, for the period 18 December 1982 to date: name, rank, remuneration, terms of conditions of employment, if seconded, and, if so, from where.

The information requested by the Deputy is as follows: Two appointments have been made. (1) Dr. John W. Harris, adviser to the Minister at a salary of £21,565 per annum. He is on secondment from his post as Principal of Newpark Comprehensive School, Dublin. (2) Miss Katherine Lyons, personal assistant to the Minister of State at £108.59 per week, plus a non-pensionable allowance of £11.00 per week. She is on secondment from the secretarial staff provided for Members of Dáil Éireann.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give the following information in respect of each personal assistant, adviser, consultant, secretary, typist or any other category employed from outside the civil service in a temporary, part-time or permanent capacity or contractual capacity, for the period 18 December 1982 to date: name, rank, remuneration, terms of conditions of employment, if seconded, and, if so, from where.

I have made arrangements to engage the following persons to serve in my private office in a temporary capacity: Mr. W. Scally, Economist, on secondment from Comhlucht Siúicre Éireann Teo., which will be recouped his salary; Mr. J. Revington as political adviser on a part-time consultancy basis and whose terms and conditions have yet to be finalised; Misses M. Spring and S. Clarke as personal assistants on secondment from their posts of secretarial assistants in the Houses of the Oireachtas. Their remuneration is £136 and £168.79 per week respectively.

The Minister of State, Deputy Ruairí Quinn, has made arrangements to engage Mr. J. Long as his political adviser and Miss D. Rogers as personal assistant who is on secondment from a post of secretarial assistant in the Houses of the Oireachtas. Their salaries are £15,107 and £9,350 per annum respectively.

All appointments and contract arrangements will be co-terminous with the terms of office of the Minister of State and myself.

No temporary, part-time, permanent or contractual staff have been employed by me or by the Minister of State at my Department from outside the civil service.
