Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers . - County Donegal AnCO Projects .

25.

asked the Minister for Labour the location of current AnCO projects under (a) construction and (b) consideration in County Donegal.

: The major AnCO project currently under construction in County Donegal is the new training centre at Ballyraine, Letterkenny. Under AnCO's community youth training programme, there are eight projects in progress at Convoy, Derrybeg, Donegal town, Dungloe, Gortahork, Kilcar, Kilmacrennan and Pettigo.

Consideration is being given to additional projects under the community youth training programme and approval has already been given for work to commence in Falcarragh, Arranmore, Convoy, Derrybeg, Drimarone, Letterkenny, Dungloe, Lettermacaward, Stranolar, Manorcunningham, Lifford (two projects), Ramelton, Rathmullen, Killygordon Cross and Gweedore.

: In view of the high level of unemployment in Donegal — on 25 February last it was 10,992 — would the Minister use his good offices to ensure that those projects will commence at the earliest possible date which may, and hopefully will, reduce this high unemployment level?

: Yes, I will do that.

26.

asked the Minister for Labour the number of community youth training programmes completed by AnCO in (a) County Donegal and (b) the County Donegal Gaeltacht.

: Since the community youth training programme began 12 projects have been completed in County Donegal and four of these have been located in the Gaeltacht. There are at present eight projects in progress in the county, of which three are in the Gaeltacht.
