Vol. 342 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

598.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

A house improvement grant under the old scheme cannot be paid in this case because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the scheme under the Housing Regulations, 1980 (as amended), the work had not been satisfactorily completed by 30 June 1981. Payment of a solid fuel grant would not be in order either as notification of completion of work and a claim for payment of the grant were not received in the Department by 30 June 1981 as required by the regulations.

However, the applicant's eligibility for a sewerage grant is being considered under the current scheme and he will be informed of the outcome.

asked the Minister for the Environment when further payments in respect of a house improvement grant will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

A maximum grant of £200 in respect of the provision of a water supply was paid to the person named in June 1981. Under the Housing Regulations, 1980 (as amended), the latest date for completion of work and receipt in the Department of a claim for payment of a grant was 30 June 1981. As this requirement was not met in respect of the house improvement or sewerage grants approved, the outstanding amounts cannot be paid.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a reconstruction grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant under the current scheme from the person named. However a solid fuel grant was paid in this case on 6 November 1981.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a reconstruction grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a house improvement grant from a person of the name and address supplied. There are, however, two such applications from a person with the same name in respect of houses at a broadly similar address. The position in relation to both applications is that grants cannot be paid because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the scheme, notification of the completion of work and a claim for payment of the grants were not received in the Department on or before 30 June 1981 as required by the Housing Regulations, 1980 (as amended).
