The maintenance and upkeep of national schools including painting and decorating are normally the responsibility of the boards of management of the school who receive a capitation grant from the Department of Education for this purpose. However, there are a number of schools vested in the State where the Office of Public Works are responsible for maintenance.
It is hoped to carry out painting and decorating contracts in the following schools this year: Aughacasla, Douglas, Knockanes, Raheen, Smerwick, Killorglin and Sixmilebridge (Barraduff).
