Vol. 342 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

810.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a farm development grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork; and the reason for the delay, as she urgently requires the grant to carry her over a difficult financial period.

The grant will be paid shortly together with a number of other grants certified about the same time.

811.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when the application for farm development grants on behalf of a person (details supplied) in County Limerick was received by his Department; and the reason the application is being refused.

An application for admission to the farm modernisation scheme was received by ACOT on 29 September 1982 but the application could not then be processed as the applicant was ineligible for admission to the scheme. Subsequently he became eligible and he has recently been accepted into the scheme.

It is understood that the applicant's farm plan includes building works and land improvement. As announced in the Budget, grants under the scheme for buildings and fixed assets have been suspended until later in the year. Accordingly, for the duration of this suspension, grant aid cannot be made available for the building works included in the plan. Grant aid continues to be available for land improvement.
