The mortgage subsidy cannot be paid in this case because, contrary to the conditions of the scheme, the applicant was in occupation of the house for more than one year prior to the receipt of his application in my Department.

It is a condition of the mortgage subsidy scheme that subsidy is payable only when the appropriate new house grant has been paid. Payment of the first instalment of the mortgage subsidy will be made when this applicant's grant is fully paid by Roinn na Gaeltachta.
