The number currently employed is 309 which includes 40 men already employed as extra for the summer drainage season. The summer season recruitment commenced in May and about 25 more employees will be taken on. Candidates for seasonal employment are obtained from the local Manpower office and from direct applicants. The candidates are interviewed by an engineer on the scheme and the most suitable are selected for employment. Persons seeking employment for the seasonal drainage work must be able bodied and capable of heavy physical work.
