Vol. 344 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

887.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when 1982 suckler grants will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

The person named will be paid his 1982 EEC suckler cow premium as soon as the batch which includes his payment is processed.

888.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason a calved heifer subsidy has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Clare.

The person named has been paid his grants under the 1982 scheme of assistance for the expansion of the cattle breeding herd already.

889.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason a cattle headage grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Clare.

The person named has not been paid his cattle headage grant under the 1982 disadvantaged areas schemes because it was necessary to have an amount owed to my Department deducted from his grant. This has now been done and he will be paid the balance due shortly.

890.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a grant for a four unit milking machine will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny as the work has been passed.

The grant will be paid shortly together with a number of other grants certified about the same time.

891.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will arrange to pay a grant for land reclamation under the farm modernisation scheme to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

A grant of £5,899 will be paid shortly together with a number of other grants certified about the same time.

892.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason a calf subsidy grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and when it will be paid.

The person named will be paid his calf premium grants as soon as the batch which includes his payment is processed.

893.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will give special reconsideration on hardship grounds to the application of a person (details supplied) in County Kerry for the payment of the 1980 sheep headage grants and for 12 brucellosis reactors disclosed in 1980; and if he will pay these grants.

As already indicated in my reply to the Deputy on 17 May 1983, payment of the 1980 sheep headage grants and reactor grants in respect of 12 brucellosis reactors disclosed in 1980, was disallowed because the person named was convicted of contravening the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966. In the circumstances, I see no reason for reconsideration of the decision taken to disallow these grants.

894.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will on reconsideration pay a mountain fencing grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry in view of the fact that he is prepared to have the land manured and fertilised as far as possible; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The scheme for the improvement of mountain and hill pastures under the programme for western development does not provide for fencing in isolation from other improvement measures including an initial application of lime and fertilisers. Approval could not be given in this case since the difficult terrain makes the application of lime impracticable.
