Vol. 344 No. 3

Written Answers. - Wool Council.

886.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether it is intended to introduce amending legislation to abolish the Wool Council; and the functions being carried out by the staff assigned to the Wool Council.

It is hoped that amending legislation will be introduced later in the year. Of the full-time and part-time staff previously at the disposal of the council two administrative staff members have been assigned to other duties in my Department but the remainder continue to be engaged in discharging the statutory functions imposed by the Wool Marketing Act, 1968. These include the enforcement of regulations governing the registration of wool buyers and the licensing of wool exporters.
