asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry when sites will be available for the erection of factories at Howth harbour, County Dublin.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 263 and 265 together.
The allocation of industrial sites at Howth harbour will be confined to fish related industries. To date 13 applications have been received. In the allocation of sites preference will be given to applicants already occupying premises on the West Pier who will be prepared to vacate their existing premises. The remaining sites will be allocated on the merits of each application and in the light of the contribution that the proposed undertaking would make to the overall development of the fishing industry at Howth. Before any site can be offered for leasing a general layout plan for the industrial development area which is at present in course of preparation must be finalised.

The total cost of the Howth Harbour Development Scheme to 30 September 1983 was £9,702,988. It is estimated that another £1.6 million will be required to complete the scheme.
Work on the present contract is nearing completion. Until contracts are placed for outstanding works it is not possible to say when the development at Howth Harbour will be completed but if these works proceed as planned the scheme should be completed during 1985.
