I am aware of the threatened closure of this factory and would very much regret such a development, particularly in an area where alternative employment is not readily available. I understand that a liquidator was appointed to the company in question last July and that he is endeavouring to sell the business as a going concern.
The Industrial Development Authority are continuing their efforts to secure a takeover of this business by local or other parties. They have had discussions with both the liquidator and a local action committee, which has been established in Belturbet with a view to securing a take-over. I understand that the IDA are awaiting receipt of a detailed submission from this committee on a possible take-over of the business, and it will be considered sympathetically on receipt.
