Vol. 345 No. 11

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

305.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will pay a home improvement grant at the maximum rate to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

The application in this case was for the installation of a water supply and sewerage facilities, the provision of a bathroom and the carrying out of necessary works to the fabric of the house.

The maximum grant allowable has been paid for the installation of sewerage facilities. A grant for the water supply could not be allowed because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the scheme, work had commenced before an inspection of the house was carried out.

An improvement grant in respect of the provision of a bathroom or the carrying out of necessary works cannot be allowed where an essential repair grant has been approved in respect of the same house. This applicant has been approved an essential repairs grant by Cork County Council.

Further consideration can only be given to this application for the provision of a bathroom or the carrying out of necessary works if and when the application for the essential repairs grant has been withdrawn.

The applicant has been so informed.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy the reason an insulation grant was refused in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Limerick as he applied about three years ago.

There is no trace in my Department of an application for a domestic insulation grant from the person named. This scheme was terminated by my Department on 31 December 1982.
