Vol. 345 No. 13

Written Answers. - Dismissal of Telephonist.

226.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary who is a telephonist who has been employed by his Department in Carrick-on-Suir on a probationary term has received a dismissal notice, as her only sick leave was officially granted to her by a post office medical officer who is adamant that her illness was genuine; if he will re-consider his decision in view of the medical facts and that Carrick-on-Suir Post Office will be going automatic in the near future.

Notice of termination of her probationary appointment has been given to the telephonist concerned because she failed over an extended period to prove her suitability for appointment. She was given sympathetic consideration and I see no sufficient reason to change the decision already taken.
