asked the Minister for Finance when a tax refund will be issued to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes is unable to review the tax liability for the year 1982-83 until the full details of pay and tax suffered during that year become available. The inspector is at present endeavouring to obtain the necessary information.

A certificate of tax-free allowances for the year 1983-84 was issued to the taxpayer on 10 October 1983. Any refund which may be due for the current year is a matter for the employer to make when the certificate is put into operation.

asked the Minister for Finance when a tax refund will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the information required by the inspector of taxes to process the repayment claim in this case was supplied on 2 November 1983. The taxpayer's liabilities for the four years 1978-79 to 1982-83, inclusive, have been reviewed and an overpayment has arisen. A cheque in settlement will be issued to the taxpayer at an early date.
