Vol. 346 No. 1

Written Answers. - Ground Rent Registration.

450.

asked the Minister for Justice the approximate length of time taken in the Land Registry to complete the registration of ground rent vesting certificates and the issue of new freehold land certificates.

451.

asked the Minister for Justice the reason it has taken a period in excess of one year to register the ground rent vesting certificate of a person (details supplied) in County Dublin; and the further period that will be required to complete this registration and issue the land certificate.

Limerick East): I am taking Questions Nos. 450 and 451 together. The registration of ground rent vesting certificates at present takes about a year to complete. Other transactions are given a higher priority because, as a general rule, no inconvenience is caused by a year's delay in ground rent cases. Cases in which the Land Registry is notified that special circumstances, such as a pending sale, exist are expedited as far as possible.

I understand that the particular application in which the Deputy is interested will be completed and a land certificate issued in a week or so.
