Vol. 346 No. 9

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

405.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when it is intended to supply a firm (details supplied) in Dublin 11 with tie telephone lines between its two main plants.

I very much regret the delay in providing an external telephone extension for the person named. However, it will not be possible to meet this application until necessary additional engineering work is carried out.

The objective of the Department's current telephone development programme is to provide a fully satisfactory telephone service nationally in terms of both quality and availability by the end of 1984 and it is expected that the extension will be provided for the firm named within about six months.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin as he is employed in the pharmaceutical industry and it is necessary for him to have a telephone in cases of emergency.

Service will be provided for the person named as soon as possible but it is unlikely that the necessary cabling can be completed before the middle of next year.

I very much regret the delay in providing telephones. However, within a year that vast bulk of applications will be met on demand.
