Vol. 346 No. 10

Written Answers. - Small Industry Development.

184.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy if he will establish autonomous regional development agencies placed on the IDA's existing network to co-ordinate the services of the 25 State agencies (AnCO, IIRS, IMI, CTT, etc.) to small industry so as to streamline and improve their effectiveness to small and medium industry; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

185.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy when regional boards and industrialisation committees will be set up throughout the country.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 184 and 185 together.

I do not intend to establish regional development agencies.

A small industry specialist has been assigned to each of the Industrial Development Authority's regional offices (excluding the mid-west region for which Shannon Development is responsible). The IDA small industry specialists are working with the county development teams in providing a more co-ordinated and effective service to small industry.
