The Non-Proliferation Treaty of 1968 to which the State is a party obliges us not to manufacture or acquire nuclear weapons. There is no question of allowing nuclear weapons owned by another country to be sited here.
Regarding Northern Ireland I would refer the Deputy to the reply given by the Minister of State at the Taoiseach's Department to Question No. 1 on 9 November 1983 when he recalled the assurance I received from the British Authorities that there are no plans for siting cruise missiles or any other nuclear missiles in Northern Ireland.
