Vol. 346 No. 10

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

299.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if a coinbox telephone will be provided for the use of the old people living in the county council maisonettes at numbers 279 to 282 Balrothery Estate, Tallaght, County Dublin, having regard to the fact that this block of flats is occupied by single old people and to their urgent and obvious needs.

It has not been possible in the time available to trace an application for a coin box telephone in the maisonettes referred to.

Public telephones are provided only in areas where the use likely to be made of them would be sufficient to warrant their provision. They are not provided in private residences. A telephone can be provided at the location named only if one of the tenants or perhaps Dublin County Council is prepared to rent the line.
