Vol. 346 No. 10

Written Answers. - Farm Retirement Pensions.

40.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if, in co-operation with the Minister for Social Welfare, he will prepare amending legislation to enable people receiving farm retirement pensions and reaching the age of 66 years the right to receive non-contributory old age pensions instead of their existing farm retirement pensions; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The whole question of farmer retirement is being examined at present in conjunction with the current review of the EEC structural directives including Directive 160 which relates to the cessation of farming.
