Vol. 347 No. 6

Written Answers. - Limerick Hospital.

249.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware of the conditions in Barrington's Hospital, Limerick, where rooms being used by doctors to hold clinics are constantly being flooded because of the general state of disrepair of the hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Flooding had been a serious problem at Barrington's Hospital until 1982 when the level of the basement floor was raised. While some flooding did occur on one occasion within the last month the cause of this was identified as a blocked drain. The hospital management are satisfied that the main cause of the problem was removed when remedial works were carried out in 1982 and feel that it is unlikely that the problem will recur. However, my Department will be keeping in touch with the hospital on the matter.
