asked the Minister for Education the number of new schools (or extensions to existing) for both primary and secondary education expected to commence during 1984 in County Louth.

My Department expect that during 1984 in County Louth two new primary schools and two extensions to existing primary schools will be commenced.

There are four post-primary school developments for County Louth in course of architectural planning at present.

The question of when construction may commence in each case cannot arise for consideration until the planning process has been completed.

asked the Minister for Education the number of primary and secondary schools in County Louth teaching subjects through the medium of Irish.

There is one national school in County Louth in which all subjects are taught through Irish. In addition, there are two other national schools in which some classes are taught completely through Irish and a further 30 national schools in which some subjects are taught through Irish. There is one post-primary school classified as A2 — one stream of pupils of the school is taught through Irish.
