State and EEC grants in recent years have been given towards the improvement of landing places in the Valentia area in the interest of the local fishing industry. Representations for further improved harbour facilities in the area in question have been received from local interests but conflicting views have been expressed by the parties concerned as to the location at which such development might most appropriately be undertaken. I am awaiting an agreed approach from the parties concerned before having the matter considered further in my Department.
