asked the Minister for Agriculture if a heifer subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny as it has been due for some time.

The person named will be paid his 1983 Calved Heifer Scheme grant as soon as the batch which includes his payment is processed.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a premium in respect of 40 ewes will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

The person named is not eligible for payment of EEC ewe premium for 1983-84 as he is not the registered owner of the lands on which the sheep are grazed. The registered owner of the lands will, however, be paid in the next few weeks.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a grant under the heifer scheme will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a grant under the calf scheme will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 407 and 408 together.

The person named in both questions will be paid his 1983 calved heifer grant and calf premium as soon as the batches which include his payments are processed.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reasons a grant has not been paid to a farmer (details supplied) in County Galway; the date on which he will be paid; the amount that will be paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter

The grants will be paid shortly.

asked the the Minister for Agriculture the position regarding the application of persons (details supplied) in County Kerry for a grant for the purchase of a rotary mower etc. under the group fodder scheme.

Grant-aid is not payable in this case as the purchase of the machinery in question has not been properly vouched.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a grant under the farm modernisation scheme for a piggery will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There is no grant due to be paid to this applicant for a piggery. A grant for a farm roadway will be paid shortly.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a farm modernisation grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Donegal.

The grant amounting to £4,185 has been paid.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a calf subsidy grant, which was passed in October 1983, will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Carlow.

The person named has been paid his calf premium already.

414.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will arrange for the immediate payment of cattle headage grants to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

Payment of grants under the disadvantaged areas schemes to the person named cannot be considered until he complies with requests to furnish legal evidence of ownership of the lands on which the stock graze to my Department.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reasons grants have not been paid to a farmer (details supplied) in County Galway; the date on which he will be paid; the amount that will be paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The person named will be paid shortly the farm modernisation scheme grant, the calf premium, suckler cow premium and calved heifer grant. These amount to £2,740. However, the beef cow grants under the 1983 disadvantaged areas schemes cannot be paid because the off-farm income of the applicant and her spouse exceeded £3,500 in the income tax year ended 5 April 1983.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a grant for farm buildings will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

The grant will be paid shortly together with a number of other grants certified about the same time.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a subsidy under the calf to beef scheme will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

An improvement plan under the orientation of agricultural production element of the Western Package was approved in this case on 31 January 1984. The plan provided for participation in the calf to beef interest subsidy scheme. It is a condition of this scheme that the calves are retained on the farm for a minimum of two years. The interest subsidy is payable at the end of the first and second years following receipt by ACOT of a completed claim from together with evidence of compliance with the terms of the scheme. The first claim in this case would not be due before February 1985.
