Vol. 347 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Lung Cancer Deaths.

13.

asked the Minister for Health the number of deaths from lung cancer recorded in each of the last five years.

The number of deaths from lung cancer in each of the years from 1978 to 1982 was as follows: 1978, 1,269; 1979, 1,312; 1980, 1,268; 1981, 1,424; 1982, 1,362. The figures for 1981 and 1982 are provisional. The figures for 1983 are not yet available.

The remaining questions will appear on tomorrow's Order paper.

I wish to raise the matter of my Private Notice Question regarding Down's Syndrome disease in Dundalk and the fact that it has been disqualified because of lack of urgency.

The Chair will communicate with Deputy Kirk.

Why was this Private Notice Question disallowed in view of the fact that the Minister for Health is in the House?

I suggest that the Deputy should call to my office if he wants that information.
