Vol. 347 No. 12

Written Answers. - County Monaghan Water Schemes.

393.

asked the Minister for Health the water schemes in County Monaghan that are fluoridated; those that are not fluoridated; and the reason they are not fluoridated.

The water supply schemes in County Monaghan that are fluoridated are as follows: Monaghan UDC; Clones; Castleblaney and Carrickmacross.

The only other water supply scheme in the county which, on the basis of population served and volume of demand, would be suitable for fluoridation is the Ballybay-Lough Egish supply. The North-Eastern Health Board are unable to have the fluoridation of this supply proceeded with at present due to a shortage of funds. However, the health board are keeping the situation under review and will have the fluoridation of the Ballybay-Lough Egish water supply proceeded with as soon as financial circumstances permit.
