Vol. 348 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Galway Land Registration.

500.

asked the Minister for Justice the time it takes to have a registration processed in the Land Registry for County Galway.

Limerick East): The length of time depends on the type of application. Most of the applications consist of dealings in registered land such as transfers of whole properties or parts of properties. The average delay for County Galway in processing such applications is about three months, within a range of three weeks to six months. A small proportion of applications are applications for first registration or for establishment of title by possession (known as section 49 applications). These are usually complex cases as already explained in reply to previous questions from the Deputy on 14 December, 1983 and 26 January 1984 (Dáil Official Report, Volume 346, No. 10, column 2280 and Volume 347, No. 5, column 1146). At present, the average delay in processing them in respect of County Galway is about 17 months.
