asked the Minister for the Environment the estimated loss of revenue arising from the abolition of agricultural rates due to the Supreme Court decision on agricultural land valuations for each country in respect of 1983 and 1984.
Written Answers. - Agricultural Rates.
On 4 May 1982, prior to the court judgment referred to, local authorities were advised that for 1983 and subsequent years full relief of rates would apply on all land. Accordingly, a loss of agricultural rates revenue arising solely from the Supreme Court decision is not involved in respect of the years in question.

asked the Minister for the Environment the grant paid by the Government in lieu of rates on agricultural land for 1982, 1983 and 1984 in respect of each county.
Local authorities have been advised that in 1984 they can expect an increase of about 0.8 per cent in their rates support grants. The 1982 and 1983 grants in lieu of rates on land are set out in the form of a tabular statement which I propose to have circulated in the Official Report.
