asked the Minister for Finance the number of people employed in planning arterial drainage; and in view of his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 394 on 21 February the duties that have been allocated to those officials since the spring of 1983.

The number of staff employed by the Commissioners of Public Works on planning work in relation to arterial drainage is 16. This staff are engaged in servicing the Boyne, Maigue, Corrib-Mask-Robe, Boyle and Bonet catchment drainage schemes which are ongoing, in finalising the design of a scheme for the Monaghan Blackwater catchment, and in supporting and monitoring the progress of the specialist studies being undertaken in connection with the preparation of a drainage scheme for the Dunkellin-Lavally catchment areas.
