The Department of Forestry and Fisheries implemented the following projects with funds from the Special Border Areas Programme Fund in 1982 and 1983: (1) Preliminary work on the development of a chalets complex at Killykeen Forest Park, Co Cavan; (2) A grant to the ESB towards the cost of the construction of a salmon smolt hatchery at Cathleen Falls, Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal.
