Vol. 348 No. 11

Written Answers. - Limerick Secondary School Provision.

541.

asked the Minister for Education the plans she has to provide a secondary school to service the areas of Ballysinan, Dublin Road, Annacotty, Kilbane, Monaleen, Milford, Grange, Newtown, Killanan and Childers Road, Limerick; if she is aware that children from those areas experience great inconvenience in travelling to other parts of the city to school; and if she agrees that this area is of sufficient size and population density to merit a secondary school.

These areas are close to Limerick city and are part of its catchment area for purposes of post-primary education. At present there is no shortage of post-primary school accommodation in the city. The future needs of Limerick city in this respect, and in particular the needs of the Castletroy-Monaleen area, are being kept under review in my Department.
