asked the Minister for the Environment if a £1,000 new house grant will now be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Sligo.

The payment of grants in respect of a number of houses in this estate, including this case, was suspended when the standard of workmanship became apparent to the Department's inspectors. A consultant engineer's report on structural aspects of the houses was requested from the builders in February 1980 and again in July 1981. When this is received the question of the payment of grants will be further considered.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny, as the work was inspected and passed last January.

This grant will be paid shortly.

402.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the difficulties being experienced by an applicant for a house improvement grant (details supplied) in County Wexford relating to the provision of a toilet and if he will agree that it is unfair that such cases would not be grant aided by virtue of the fact they cannot afford proper sanitary services and that the modest request which was made was refused.

The person named has not been refused a house improvement grant but has been advised that the grant can be paid only if the w.c. compartment is, in accordance with the terms of the scheme, connected directly to the dwellinghouse.
