Vol. 348 No. 13

Written Answers. - Company Liquidation.

374.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that there are many Irish people living in the United Kingdom who do not know whether they are going to get paid all, half or nothing of their money from a firm (details supplied) which is in liquidation as it appears that the Revenue Commissioners have a large claim against the company which will decide on the final pay out; if he will clarify the matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It has not been possible to date to quantify the Revenue's claim in this case. When the Revenue's claim has been quantified it will be notified to the official liquidator appointed by the court, to whom all claims should be notified if they are to qualify for payment in accordance with clearly defined statutory provisions, to the extent that funds may in due course be available. The Revenue Commissioners have no authority to abate their claim in favour of other creditors.
