Vol. 349 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant and Mortgage Subsidy Payments.

419.

asked the Minister for the Environment if the application for a new house grant will be reviewed for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford with a view to approving the payment of the grant.

The application in this case was received in the Department on 30 November 1983 while the particulars supplied by the applicant indicate that the house was occupied on 30 October 1982, i.e., 13 months prior to the date on which the application was received. In these circumstances the payment of a grant is precluded by article 11 (1) (b) of the Housing Regulations, 1980, which provides that an application for grant must be received by the Minister within one year of the date of occupation of the house.

420.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in paying a new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan.

There has been no undue delay in dealing with this application. Following the last inspection of the house in October 1983, the applicant was issued with a list of unfinished works for completion. When notification was received in February 1984 that these works were completed, the file was referred for final inspection with a view to payment of the grant. The inspection will be carried out as soon as possible.

421.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in paying a new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan.

There was no avoidable delay in dealing with this case. The grant will be paid shortly.

422.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £1,000 new house grant and mortgage subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

A grant was paid recently in this case. Payment of the mortgage subsidy will be made when the applicant submits the appropriate claim form and provided that all the conditions of the scheme are met.
