asked the Minister for Education the number of grants awarded by her Department to college of education students in 1982-83; and the number of these that were (a) full grant, (b) fees only, and (c) part fees grant.
The number of students awarded grants in the colleges of education under my Department's scheme in 1982-83 was 332, (a) 259 students were awarded full grants, (b) 20 students were awarded grants equivalent in value to the full amount of the fee and (c) 53 students were awarded grants equivalent in value to a portion of the fee.
Students in the Froebel and Marino Colleges of Education are eligible for grants under the higher education grants scheme which is administered by the local authorities.
