asked the Minister for Justice when a decision will be made by the Land Registry in relation to a registration for a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

Limerick East): This is an application for first registration based on long possession which was lodged in the Land Registry on 19 April 1983.

As I have explained in my replies to previous questions from the Deputy, on 14 December 1983 and 26 January 1984 (Dáil Debates Volume 346, No. 10, column 2280 and Volume 347, No. 5, column 1146), applications of this kind involve detailed and complex examination of title and often protracted correspondence. At present, average delays in processing applications in respect of County Galway are about seventeen months and it is not possible at this stage to say when a decision on the application will be made.
