asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he is aware of the imprisonment of three Irish citizens in Iraq; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am not aware of any Irish citizen imprisoned in Iraq. I did become aware some weeks ago of concerns expressed about three Irish citizens working for a company that went into liquidation. My Department contacted the liquidator at the time and were assured that the three had already returned to Ireland. I understand that at no stage were they imprisoned. If the Deputy has, however, information about any Irish citizen imprisoned in Iraq I would of course look into the matter.
